Sunshine fading, rain arriving soon for NJ metro

Latest post: 5/7/2013 -- 11:30am

The sunny and dry weather will come to an end today for parts of the Garden state...

Clouds are lowering and thickening for central and northern NJ this afternoon...
In southern New Jersey, clouds are already in place, and some light rain is likely during the day, or by evening.
Temperatures will reach the lower 60s for areas that are already cloudy, and upper 60s to around 70 for locations that are seeing some sun.

Tonight is expected to be cloudy, with showers likely this evening for southern NJ, moving into the remainder of NJ, NYC and Long Island after midnight. Temperatures only fall to between 50 and 55 degrees in most areas.

Wednesday looks wet, with showers and some heavy rain at times. Temperatures top out in the mid- to upper 60s.
More showers, and even a thunderstorm continue for Wednesday night, along temperatures in the 50s.

Thursday is expected to feature mostly cloudy skies. Showers are expected to be more scattered in nature, with highs once again in the 60s to around 70 degrees. Cooler along the shore.

Friday will see a temporary break in the wet weather, along with warmer temperatures, reaching the mid- to upper 70s inland, and between 60 and 65 degrees at the coast.

The weekend will see a new weather front arrive, with showers and thunderstorms likely on Saturday, with the sun returning on Sunday.
High temperatures both days top out in the 70s.
