Rain on the way for NJ metro

Latest post: 7:15pm -- 5/10/2013

After a beautiful day with warm temperatures for Friday, rain is on the way for this evening, right through Saturday...

Showers and thunderstorms will first arrive in northwestern sections of New Jersey between 8 and 9pm, and then all areas of the Garden state, New York City, and Long Island will see wet weather shortly thereafter.
Some of the storms will have heavy downpours. Temperatures are only expected to drop into the mid-50s for the suburbs, to around 60 for urban NJ and NYC.

Scattered showers start off the day on Saturday, with more widespread rain for the afternoon and evening. Temperatures top out around 70 degrees.
Showers and thunderstorms continue through early Saturday night, likely ending between 7pm and 9pm. Temperatures will be in the 60s for much of the time.

** This latest weather front moves away just in time for Mothers Day Sunday, which looks brighter again, with partly to mostly sunny skies. It will be windy, however, gusting up to 30mph at times, along with cooler readings, reaching the mid- and upper 60s. **

The new-work week starts off sunny and cool on Monday, as temperatures top out between 60 and 65 degrees.

Mostly sunny and cool weather continues for Tuesday -- with perhaps some showers, along with warmer temperatures on Wednesday.
