NJ metro area forecast for the rest of the week

Latest post: 8:40pm -- 5/27/2013

After a nice Memorial Day weather-wise, temperatures will be changing in the coming days.

For tonight, increasing clouds are expected, as lows drop into the 50s for much of New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island.

On Tuesday, a warm front, and a weather disturbance will keep skies mainly cloudy. Showers are possible in the morning, particularly for NW New Jersey, with all areas seeing showers and perhaps a thunderstorm during the afternoon and evening. Some of the rain could be heavy, especially later in the day.
Highs will reach 70 degrees inland, and 60 - 65 at the shore.

Tomorrow night has more showers in the forecast, with temperatures falling once again into the 50s for much of the region.

Wednesday is the beginning of a warm-up -- with clouds and some fog early, and partly sunny skies during the afternoon. There is a 30% chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will top out between 80 and 85 degrees inland, and upper 60s at the coast.

Thursday and Friday turn hot and more humid, with highs around 90, and mainly sunny skies.

Next weekend stays warm and muggy for Saturday and Sunday, with highs between 80 and 85, along with scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon.
