A wet and chilly Sunday for New Jersey metro

Latest post: 12:15pm -- 5/19/2013

The weekend continues on the gray and wet ...

More light rain and drizzle continues for this afternoon. Temperatures will be unseasonably chilly today, only reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Tonight features more of the same, along with areas of fog as well. Temperatures will remain fairly steady.

Tomorrow, on Monday, to start the new work-week, the day begins gray, with some drizzle or light rain around, but the afternoon is expected to be brighter and warmer. There will be a wide range in high temperatures, as readings inland reach between 75 and 80, with shore areas staying in the 60s. Some scattered showers are possible in the afternoon.

For Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, showers and some heavy thunderstorms are expected each afternoon. Temperatures, once again will be warmest away from the coast -- about 80 degrees or so, with 60s at the beaches.

** There is some severe potential with the storms during this period, and will be monitored in the coming days. **
