Humid for NJ metro today

Latest post: 2:00pm -- 5/22/2013

The warm, humid pattern continues for the Garden state this afternoon...
Clouds are expected to break during the day, and temperatures should reach 80 degrees for inland areas, and closer to 70 for coastal NJ, NYC, and much of Long Island. A shower or thunder-storm is possible in the afternoon -- particularly for northwestern sections of NJ.

Tonight will remain muggy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows only drop into the mid- to upper 60s for the suburbs, to around 70 degrees in New York City.

** Heavy rainfall threat for Thursday **

The weather front from the middle part of the country moves into our area on Thursday. Severe weather is not expected here, but flooding downpours are likely in the afternoon, right through Thursday night. Day-time temperatures top out in the middle and upper 70s, and only fall to around 70 overnight.

This weather front will slow down, and keep rainy, cool, and windy weather in the forecast for Friday. Temperatures on Friday are expected to remain in the 60s.

The Memorial Day weekend may start off with some clouds on Saturday, but the rest of the day, right through Monday should feature plenty of sunshine, along with a brisk breeze each day. Highs will reach the 60s to around 70. Night-time temperatures drop into the 50s.

** The rain for tomorrow and Friday will be monitored fore severe weather and flooding potential, and updates will be made if the wet weather does in fact linger into the holiday weekend **
