Not as hot for NJ metro today

Latest post: 9:15am -- 6/2/2013

The hot weather of recent days will be cooling down, as a strong cold front approaches the region this afternoon...

Temperatures are expected to reach 85 degrees inland, and the upper 70s at the beaches, which would end our most recent heat wave.
Clouds will be moving in by late this morning, with showers and thunderstorms arriving between 3 and 4pm for northern and western areas of New Jersey, and between 4 and 5pm for the remainder of the Garden state and New York City. It may take until 6pm for the rain to make it into Long Island.
** These time frames may be adjusted as conditions warrant **
** Heavy rain and gusty winds are likely with these storms, and will also be monitored for severe possibilities. **

Tonight continues with showers and gusty thunderstorms, some of which may also be severe. Temperatures will be mainly in the 70s.
Wake-up readings on Monday will be in the 60s.

More rain is likely on Monday, particularly in the morning, some with heavy downpours, but severe weather is not expected.
Highs for Monday are expected to be cooler, reaching the upper 70s to around 80 degrees.

Skies will be partly sunny on Tuesday, with lower humidity and pleasant temperatures in the 70s.

Wednesday looks to be the pick of the new work-week, with sunshine and highs in the mid-70s.

Thursday and Friday could see the return of clouds and rain, along with similar temperatures.
