Rain expected today
Latest post: 12:45pm - 6/30/2013
After a nice and dry Saturday, changes are in the forecast beginning today.
Clouds have moved in to much of the metro area this morning and early afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop, and much of the Garden state should see rain after 3 or 4pm, moving into NYC and Long Island shortly thereafter. Highs today top out in the muggy 80-85 degree range inland, and upper 70s at the cost.
** Flood Watch for central New Jersey tonight through Monday **
Tonight and Monday are expected to see a increase in the coverage and intensity of the rain, with locally heavy downpours likely, along with a rumble of thunder from time to time. Flooding is a moderate to high threat, particularly for New Jersey, where rainfall rates can reach 1 - 2 inches per hour. Lows tonight drop into the upper 60s to mid- 70s. High tomorrow generally in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
Tuesday continues with the threat for heavy down-pours at times. Temperatures reach the upper 70s to lower 80s once again.
Wednesday can still see some showers, but flooding rains are not expected at this time, but will be monitored.
** The 4th of July and Friday are expected to see a break in the rain, but not from the heat, as highs reach 90 degrees for most areas **
Updates on the end of the week will be posted in the coming days.
