Heat wave ... coming to an end for New Jersey metro

Latest post: 4:45pm - 6/1/2013

Another hot afternoon for the area...

Temperatures this afternoon are around 90 for many parts of inland New Jersey -- which makes it 3 consecutive afternoons of reaching this mark, making it an official heat wave.
The place to be, once again, is along the shore, where it is a bit cooler, in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
There have been one or two thundershowers in northwestern sections of the Garden state, and some more scattered storms -- with heavy downpours -- are possible for this region until around sunset.
Tonight will be partly cloudy and muggy -- with temperatures much of the night between 80 and 85, and the low only falling to the lower 70s for much of urban NJ and NYC, and some upper 60s for the NJ suburbs, as well as for Long Island.

Sunday begins with some changes. Cooler highs are expected-- reaching around 85 degrees for inland areas, and a repeat of recent days for the shore --mainly in the upper 70s.
A weather front will bring clouds into the area by late morning, and some showers and thunderstorms could arrive by around 2 or 3pm, particularly for northern and western New Jersey, with more widespread thunderstorms arriving for all NJ/NYC and Long Island areas around 4pm. Thunderstorms will have heavy downpours, and will also be monitored for severe possibilities.
Showers and locally severe thunderstorms are expected for Sunday night, along with temperatures mostly in the 70s.

Monday, to start the new work-week, will have this weather front overhead, continuing the threat for rain, some of which will be heavy, but severe weather is not expected at this time. Future updates will monitor any changes. Humidity levels will be high, with temperatures in the 70s.

Tuesday turns less humid, with partly sunny skies, along with pleasant temperatures around 75 degrees, with lows in the upper 50s.

Wednesday looks fantastic, with sunshine, low humidity, and highs, once again in the middle 70s!
Low temperatures will drop into the lower and middle 50s.

Some nice sleeping weather next week!
