Better weather ahead for NJ metro

Latest post: 9:45am -- 6/13/2013

** Severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 11am Thursday **

** Severe thunderstorm warnings in effect as of this post as well for southern and southwestern NJ **

Showers and heavy thunderstorms will be affecting all of NJ, NYC and Long Island today -- some are severe storms -- primarily this morning, but will also be monitored for severe weather this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach the 60s to around 70 for much of the area.
Rainfall amounts should be between 1 and 2 inches, but will be higher in heavy thunderstorms.

Tonight is expected to see more rain, heavy at times, with some thunderstorms, as well, which will be monitored for severe possibilities. Lows fall mainly into the humid 60s this evening, and to a low in the 50s by morning.

Friday will start to see improvement. Rain should be over very early in the morning (between 5 and 6am ), with some sun returning during the day. There is a 30% chance of another shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. Temperatures top out in the 70s.

For the weekend, Saturday looks like a beauty -- with plenty of sunshine, low humidity, and hi temperatures in the 70s to around 80 degrees!
Sunday is not expected to be as bright, but any rain should hold off during the day, and may move in at night. Temperatures on Sunday will reach the 70s to around 80 once again for much of the region.

The best chance for the next chance or wet weather is forecast to arrive on Monday or Tuesday.
