Weather data update

Latest post: 3:45pm -- 1/1/2014

Weather data update: (3:45pm).

The "ETA" model is suggesting between 0.60" - 0.75" of liquid, and VERY cold while it is squeezing out this precipitation in the form of snow tomorrow night...
If you recall from my last post, we generally use a 10-1 liquid to snow ratio. If we were to use that ratio, it would mean 6" - 7.5" of snow on average...
HOWEVER, since the air is expected to be so much colder than usual while it will be snowing, the ratio of snow to liquid is higher ... probably at least 1.5x more... (15 - 1 ratio).

So, 0.6 - 0.75 liquid x 1.5 is around 9 - 11 inches of snow...

Caution: This particular model tends to "over-do" precipitation...
With that said, I probably would tone down the 9 - 11 to more in line of 6" - 8", based on the "error" that this model tends to, but does not always do...

Secondly, the next model, the GFS model, comes out in about one hour...
I would like to see a similarity to the above data to feel confident of this high amount...
