Sunday weather update for NJ metro

Latest post 12:00pm - 10/6/2013

A cloudy to partly sunny day today -- with highs in the mid- to upper 70s, with 80-degree temps. for southern New Jersey -- and perhaps more of the area if the sun lasts longer into the afternoon..
Tonight will be partly to mostly cloudy, with patchy fog around. Lows drop into the humid 60s once again.

** Weather models continue to speed up the next weather front on Monday **

Tropical depression Karen will weaken as it drifts along the Gulf Coast into the southeastern United States, and will not be the weather feature that impacts our area.

It will be a cold front that provides our best opportunity for rain in over two weeks. This front will accelerate and weaken somewhat in the process as it approaches our region, but will have enough time to give us some much-needed rain.
There may be some scattered showers during the morning on Monday, but the steady rain, with some heavy downpours, will arrive around 3 or 4pm. The front will already be offshore by around 8 or 9pm, ending the threat for wet weather.

The rest of the work-week will see dry weather, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
