Weather front arriving this afternoon in NJ metro

Latest post: 8:50am -- 10/7/2013

Weather front on schedule to arrive later this afternoon, and move through our area tonight...

Skies are cloudy, and the air is humid, so the ingredients are in place for the entire region to see some welcome rain for the first time in 16 days...
This will be a relatively short-duration event, with the main part of this weather system only lasting around 6 hours our so.

There will be a few light showers around this morning, but the line of steady rain, some with heavy downpours, arrives between 3 and 4pm, and ends around 9pm tonight.
With this heavier area of wet weather, there can be some lightning and thunder as well, along with gusty winds.
Severe weather is not likely, but radar images will be monitored.

Sunshine returns for Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the 60s to around 70 degrees.
