Saturday morning update for NJ metro


Saturday morning weather update for NJ metro:

Seeing some sun .. but skies will be mainly cloudy for the afternoon...
There may be a few showers over Long Island during the daylight hours ... but these are expected to be on the light side.
Much, if not all of the area, will be dry for the majority of the daylight hours, with the front getting close to the region by evening.
Highs today top out in the mid- to upper 70s.

Showers will arrive first in western and southwestern New Jersey around 8pm, and then slowly spread into the rest of the Garden State by 9pm. New York City is forecast to see the first rain-drops between 9-9:30pm.. with Long Island waiting to get wet until around 10pm. These initial showers are not expected to be heavy.

** Flooding possibilities will be monitored between midnight and 6am for the entire area ***
It is at this time, where showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy downpours with gusty winds and some lightning and thunder as well.

This latest front will be crossing the area early Sunday morning.
The showers and thunderstorms will be ending in New Jersey first between 5-6am, with NYC drying out between 6am-7am, and lastly on Long Island by around 8am.

The sun will shortly return thereafter once the wet weather is over.
Temperatures on Sunday will reach between 70 and 75 degrees.

More updates will be posted as necessary.

The new work-week will feature another stretch of sunny, rain-free weather.
Monday will be the coolest day of the week in the 60s, with the rest of the week in the 70s.
