Hot weather today ... cooler by the end of the week for NJ metro

Latest text post: 8:40am -- 9/11/2013

The hottest day of this week expected today...

Temperatures top out in the lower 90s away from the shore, with coastal areas reaching the lower 80s. Humidity levels will be high.

Skies will be mainly sunny for much of the day -- with some clouds late in the day.
A shower or thunderstorm is possible, particularly for northern and western NJ.

Tonight turns out partly cloudy, with some patchy fog after midnight. Much of the evening will see temperatures in the low to mid- 80s, with lows only falling into the lower to mid-70s.

*** A strong cold front on schedule to arrive late Thursday and Thursday night. ***

Tomorrow will start off with sunshine and temperatures in in the upper 70s. Highs are expected to reach the mid- to upper 80s, with increasing clouds in the afternoon.
Late in the day and by evening, showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop.
Some will have heavy downpours and gusty winds. Severe weather possibilities will be monitored as well.

The threat for heavy, gusty storms continues Thursday night, with readings mainly in the 70s.

Friday will be much cooler, along with a brisk breeze. Highs top out in the 70s, with falling temperatures during the day. There is a 30% chance for showers later on.

The weekend will start out chilly each morning, with temperatures in the 40s and 50s, with mostly sunny skies each afternoon, and highs in the upper 60s to mid- 70s.

** More on severe weather chances with the latest cold front in my next post. **
