More severe weather possible for NJ metro this evening

Latest post: 1:40pm

Severe thunderstorm watches for northeastern NJ have recently been issued...

Severe weather watches are also in effect for much of Pennsylvania...
These watches may be extended eastward to include the rest NJ, NYC and Long Island shortly...

The first area of storms is moving through Monmouth and Ocean counties of NJ, and onto Long Island as of 1:40pm, with heavy downpours and gusty winds.

While some areas may see another shower or gusty thunderstorm this afternoon, the main line with the cold front is moving through western and central Pennsylvania.
This line of storms will be arriving in northwestern NJ around 6pm ... between 6 and 7pm for the rest of the Garden state and NYC, and for Long Island between 8pm-9pm.

Severe weather will be possible as this line moves through, and warnings for these storms will be monitored.

Updates will be issued accordingly.
