Showers and thunderstorms will break the heat this weekend for NJ metro

Weather update:
A cold front continues to move toward the area for the weekend...
One weather model is suggesting that before the main front arrives, some showers and thunderstorms may develop between 8am and 9am Saturday -- (this is called "pre-frontal" precipitation). If this verifies, and cools the air temperature from the mid 80's down to the upper 70s, it may be tough for the temperature to rebound back over 90 degrees tomorrow, which would end the heat wave for some locations.. This is a low chance, about 30%.

A better chance of storms (50-60%) arrives after 4pm -- which could have severe capabilities.

Radar images will be monitored during the course of the day.

The heat breaks on Sunday, with highs in the mid- to upper 80s.
The humidity may take longer to end, depending on whether this latest front stalls, and keeps showers in the forecast for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Future weather data will help determine this as well.
