A break in the heat in sight for NJ metro...

Latest text post: 4:00pm - 7/9/2013

A sixth straight day of seeing 90-degree temperatures for the NJ metro area...

Very warm to hot temperatures continue this afternoon. Temperatures have peaked in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees, with some cooler readings at the shore.
Scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm will affect a few spots through early this evening. A brief heavy downpour is possible.

Tonight turns out partly cloudy. Lows drop to between 70 and 75 degrees for much of the area.

Tomorrow overall will feature more of the same. A weather front is expected to get closer to our area on Wednesday, bringing more clouds to the region. If the clouds arrive soon enough, we may see temperatures peak in the middle to upper 80s, officially ending the heat wave. Showers and thunderstorms are a higher probability tomorrow -- some of which could be heavy.
Wednesday night could see more showers and some heavy thunderstorms, as readings fall back into the 70s.

Thursday has the best chance of wet weather this week, as the weather front will be near our area. Some of the storms with this front may be severe, and will be monitored for any watches or warnings.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday turns less humid, with partly to mostly sunny skies, and highs in the 80s.
