Tuesday weather update for NJ metro

Latest post: 12:45pm -- 8/27/2013

Warm and humid today with partly to mostly sunny skies expected...
There is a 20% chance of a shower or thunderstorm later this afternoon.

The rain threat diminishes tonight, with skies remaining partly cloudy. Some patchy fog is possible after midnight. Lows fall into the mid- 60s for the suburbs, to around 70 for New York City.

A weather disturbance will approach the area on Wednesday. There is a good chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon -- especially for western and southern New Jersey and the Philadelphia metro area. Highs top out in the upper 70s and lower 80s at the beaches, to the mid- 80s elsewhere.

By Thursday, the weather system will be moving away. There could be some showers for eastern Long Island in the morning. Temperatures reach between 80 and 85 for much of the region.

Friday should be sunny and pleasant.

The nice weather will hopefully continue right through the Memorial holiday weekend.
More on this in the days to come...
